• Thursday, November 12th, 8 PM: The Big One Magazine: Issue Launch + Spiritual Architecture talk!Join us to celebrate the release of The Big One, a Los Angeles literary magazine, Issue 5: “Faith and Spirit”.
Featuring readings from local writers and a presentation from Los Angeles historian Amanda Karkoutly (@cahuengapast) on the history of the theosophists in Los Angeles, the spiritual architecture of Hollywood, and the cross over the 101 freeway.

• Monday, November 16th, 7:30 PM: Gary Lachman: “Jung the Mystic”: Carl Jung, the legendary Swiss psychiatrist best known for his groundbreaking concepts such as the collective unconscious, archetype theory, and synchronicity, often took pains to avoid any explicit association with mysticism or the occult. Yet Jung lived a life rich in paranormal experiences—arguing for the existence of poltergeists in a debate with Sigmund Freud, participating in séances, incorporating astrology into his therapeutic work, reporting a near-death experience, and analyzing the work of pioneering ESP researcher J. B. Rhine. It is these critical experiences—often fleetingly touched on in other biographies or critical studies, and frequently used to make a case against Jung and his philosophies – that form the core of my book Jung the Mystic. This talk, based on the book, will look at Jung’s long relationship with the occult, spiritualism, and the mystical.Introduction by Darren Richardson. Illustrative images will be displayed.

A short: “The Night Before Christmas” (1905!! 9 minutes) Santa prepares his sleigh while children await Christmas morning. Charming early trick photography.
“The Blue Bird” (1918, 75 minutes) On Christmas Eve, two children undertake a magical quest for the Blue Bird of Happiness.
They discover that happiness may have been close to home all along.
William Zeitler has been a musician since age five and is a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts. He has performed nationally and internationally,
including at the Kennedy Center and with the Blue Man Group, and has composed and produced eight albums of original music.
WIlliam also writes film scores for documentaries, most recently for the European Space Agency.
He is also known for his live, fully improvised accompaniment of silent films, performing on piano and theater pipe organ.
